Paul Sanagorski
Currently, Paul is the hitting coach for the Wichita Wingnuts professional baseball team.
Paul has over 35 years of baseball coaching experience both at the college and professional levels. Having coached at the professional level with the Florida Marlins and the Washington Nationals. Paul has extensive experience at every level of the minor leagues, from rookie ball to Triple A, and brings that wealth of knowledge to Hoover Field, as an instructor.
Sanagorski started and built the baseball program at Newman University. Paul led the Jets to a 4th place finish in the NAIA World Series, while accumulating an impressive winning percentage of .755 with a record of 766-291 in 22 yrs at the helm. During that time, Paul was selected Coach of the year 8 times and in 2007 he was inducted into the Newman University Athletic Hall of Fame.
During his time at Newman, Paul coached 3 years of summer baseball in the Jayhawk league and also coached the only 18 yr old team to ever represent the state of Kansas, to play in the Connie Mack World Series, in Farmington, New Mexico.
The successful run at Newman earned Sanagorski an opportunity to apply his trade in the professional ranks. Paul initially signed with the Montreal Expos but was offered a bonus to go to coach in Florida when the owner purchased the Marlins. Besides his coaching career, he spent 12 years with the Atlanta Braves as an associate scout.
Since stepping away from affiliated baseball, the veteran coach has shared his insights with members of the Friends University baseball team, as well as, Kansas Weslyan and Bethany College. He has helped Bishop Carroll high school for the last 5 years. Sanagorski also has a variety of experience at clinics, camps and team instruction and has given over 3,000 hrs of individual instruction.
Sanagorski was inducted into the Kansas Baseball Hall of Fame in 2009, and the Wichita Sports Hall of Fame in 2012.
